It's been tough but we survived
The last year and a half has been incredibly tough on people worldwide, and Pattaya has certainly not been spared. While we aren’t fully "out of the woods" yet, I believe we are over the worst of it. There is finally light at the end of the tunnel as Thailand pushes forward with its recovery and vaccination drives.
🚗 Staying Essential During a Pandemic
Fortunately, the car rental industry is one that naturally involves very little physical contact. In many ways, we are an essential service, which has allowed Pattaya Rent a Car to stay operational while many other local industries were forced to close.
However, it hasn't been without its pain. Inter-provincial travel restrictions hit us hard—after all, few people want to rent a car if they are restricted to city limits. The lack of international tourists and our regular long-stay foreigners has been the real challenge. We have loyal customers who have visited us every year since 2005 whom we haven't seen for nearly two years now.
🏗️ A City in Transition
Pattaya might never be the same after this pandemic, but the truth is, the city was already undergoing a major transition. The pandemic simply accelerated it. For those who haven't been here recently, the landscape is shifting:
- Infrastructure: There is still a massive amount of construction and development ongoing.
- New Markets: We are seeing a rise in wealthy Thai domestic tourists and significant interest from Chinese investors.
🔚 A Blessing in Disguise?
Personal opinions on these changes will vary depending on what you love about Pattaya. Personally, I believe the city improves year after year. Although it’s difficult to see through the current struggle, this "reset" might eventually be seen as a blessing in disguise for the long-term future of Pattaya.
We look forward to welcoming our international friends back very soon!
